Idemitsu Lube Middle East Africa (ILMEA), which celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2019, held “Family Gathering” on December 19 to express appreciation to the employees’ family members for their support so that all ILMEA personnel can perform their duties well. This family gathering also provided an opportunity for those who live away from their home country together to deepen their ties, which helps to foster a corporate culture where employees could work in harmony and unleash their true potentials. ILMEA office is located in Dubai, the key point in East-West trade, and its employees consist of diverse nationalities including Japan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa. ILMEA is a role model where “diversity and inclusion” at the workplace touches every aspect of daily business operations. Differences in religion, culture, or eating habits, do exist, but all ILMEA members how to cherish them. It is a business unit with profound mutual respect.
All employees and their family members, 26 in total, participated in a family gathering organized by Idemitsu Energy Indonesia on October 26 and 27, 2019. This is the 3rd annual family gathering event planned by our local staff themselves, held the city known for its mild temperature and hilly terrain, Bandung, 4-hour drive from the capital city Jakarta. The employees spent a 1-night 2-day trip in Bandung, sightseeing around the city, and had a lot of fun at dinner full of exciting games. The event was initiated to create better work environment by strengthening the relationship among employees through providing opportunity where employees and their family members can interact and understand each other more.
The workshop on September 19–21, 2019 in Guilin, Jiangxi Province, China, and a total of 31 persons attended the workshop. This event was organized to allow staff members of the two branches to deepen relationship between them to realize greater electronic materials business expansion in the country. Participants were divided into groups and learned how to manage business more efficiently by making best use of their respective individualities. This workshop helped build up a stronger capacity for integrated actions, and through this capacity, the two branches will strive to establish more powerful development, manufacturing, and marketing systems in China.
On July 31, 2019, Chiba Complex organized a family plant tour to familiarize the employees’ family members with the workplace. Twenty participants from eight families gathered at the complex. After a briefing on the complex, the participants visited the fire truck at the Security and Safety Section and took some commemorative photos. They then used natural plants to make strap and whistle, and at the end of the tour, they enjoyed lunch together. It was a special day for the kids as they had chance to know better about their mom’s and dad’s job.
On July 31, 2019, Idemitsu Unitech organized its first office tour for children at its head office. Six children from of four employees who work at the head office joined the tour. The children were introduced some Idemitsu Unitech products and took commemorative photos at the president’s office. Then, they visited their moms and dads’ office, tried to make an appointment by phone, and exchanged business cards with serious expression. They also had experience talking with Plaloc Asia employees in Thailand (one of Idemitsu Group’s subsidiaries) through web call and asked questions to the local staff in Thai. This allowed them to feel that the company is really developing the business globally. Although the children were nervous at first, they showed huge interest in their mom’s and dad’s job which they could not usually experience. The event was more exciting than expected, and the head office was fully filled with smiles that day.
