Electronic Materials Department, which is expanding its businesses overseas, currently has four subsidiaries; in South Korea (Seoul), China (Shanghai and Chengdu), and Switzerland (Basel). Its employees consist of more than 10 nationalities. The department felt the need to bring the spirit of unity to all of its subsidiaries, and the first Global Administration Meeting of Electronic Materials Department was born. It was held at Idemitsu’s head office in Marunouchi, Tokyo from November 13 to 15, 2019 with the aim to strengthen management functions, exchanging ideas, and sharing issues faced by respective subsidiaries. The meeting was not only attended by overseas staff, but also local staff in Japan. The participants gave positive comment about the meeting, "We are glad to know colleagues from other countries in charge of the same accounting work." Others said, “I feel we will go in a good direction by knowing each other more”, and “I learned a lot from other subsidiaries in coping with some similar issues”. Idemitsu will continue to create better work environment by building stronger connections among the overseas subsidiaries and branches.
On June 28 and 30, 2019, young employees from the Retail Marketing Department held the Hatto Café workshop. The name “Hatto Café” was coined by combining “hatto” from ApolloHat and Pizza Hut, which have their outlets at Idemitsu’s and Showa Shell’s brand service stations. Into this name, the employees put their wishes to notice new ideas related to corporate internal improvement and business expansion of the newly integrated company; Idemitsu - Showa Shell, during the workshop. The event livened up as the participants exchanged their opinions on how they feel about the integration of the two companies and how they want to develop the company in the future.
Idemitsu Plantech Tokuyama has begun promoting employee feedback activities, which aim to improve job satisfaction by enabling employees to share their thoughts and ideas and submit them to the management. On September 14, 2020, the management and representatives from each section (10 people in total) held their first forum on the theme of making the Company better. Discussions were held in a relaxed atmosphere from start to finish. The management organized the issues and responses for the entire Company and each workplace, and provided feedback to employees in March 2021. In FY2021, we will hold dialogues on the 6th Medium-term Management Plan and our vision for the future.
