In 2022, we were listed for the first time on the FTSE Blossom Japan Index. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is an ESG investment index consisting of Japanese companies that are highly commended for their ESG performance. It is used as a benchmark by Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund.
In 2022, we were listed on the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index. The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index reflects the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong ESG performance relative to other companies in their sector. To support a climate transition to a low carbon economy, companies, those in sectors that produce high levels of carbon emissions, are only included if they are appraised highly for climate-related initiatives.

We were recognized as a company that proactively and effectively encourages women’s success and was selected jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) as a Nadeshiko Brand for fiscal year 2022. This is the first time that the Company was awarded this designation. We were selected based on our strong commitment to encouraging women’s success as a part of its management strategy in order to create “interactions and chemical reactions between various talents” to reform our operating structure, our inclusion of percentage of women in managerial positions, etc. as clear KPIs, and our disclosure of such KPIs in the Medium-term Management plan and Idemitsu Integrated Report.

We have been selected on 2023 Health & Productivity Stock Selection and 2023 Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program (the “white 500”) for the second consecutive year. The Health & Productivity Stock Selection is an index provided by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in collaboration with the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The “white 500” is for health and productivity in a program run by METI and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi. Our industrial healthcare staffs, work places, and managers collaborate to support the independent health management of employees.
We have been selected as a constituent of SOMPO Asset Management Co., Ltd.'s "SOMPO Sustainability Index" for the 11th consecutive year since 2012 in recognition of our ESG (Environment, Society, and Governance) initiatives.
We were selected for the first time as the number one company in the energy category (number of eligible companies: 22) at the Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure as chosen by external analysts and organized by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan in FY2023. We were recognized for the quality, quantity and timing of our disclosures based on the assessment criteria in five areas: attitude of management toward IR, functions of the IR department, disclosure of explanatory materials, fair disclosure and ESG-related information disclosure.
We acquired DX Certification (from the Minister of the Economy, Trade and Industry) on April 1, 2021. Our initiatives are DX-Ready, meaning the Company has been recognized as having achieved the requisite readiness level for business transformation through digital technology.

We analyzed our issues, examined specific measures, and formulated an action plan to support the active participation of employees who aim to balance work and family life. In 2012 and 2015, we were certified as a childcare-friendly company by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and obtained Kurumin Certification for our measures to support raising the next-generation children.

Yoichi Ishizaki was recognized and awarded for his contributions in the creation of the 2021 Edition of the “API 579-1/ ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-Service” standard*, jointly published by ASME and API in the U.S. The paper was also published in Japanese and received the FY2022 Science and Technology Promotion Award from the High Pressure Institute of Japan. * The API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-Service standard: Theoretically rational standard for judging and evaluating from the perspective of fracture mechanics, etc., various aged deterioration conditions that occur in petroleum / petrochemical facilities after they are put into service. It is widely and publicly recognized as the technical standard that provides the basis for the safe and stable operation of petroleum and petrochemical facilities, not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom and other countries. |
